In 2014, Modi was an unknown entity at the National Level. He was known as an efficient Gujarat Chief Minister.
A good portion of his party was against him becoming PM, including doyens like Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Yashwant Sinha as also aspiring leaders like Sushma Swaraj.
Still he won a majority for BJP on its own. It cannot all be attributed to the Corruption and poor Governance of Congress/UPA. They were always corrupt in peoples eyes.
5 years down the line, Modi has proved himself as a strong leader, revived the economy big time, has done considerable development works, even done things like 100% electrification, 30 crore Bank Accounts, Direct Benefit Transfer Scheme, Roads built at frenetic pace, Railways modernized, lot of work done on the Agricultural front, raised the image of India globally, and taught Pakistan a lesson. He is also unchallenged in the party. BJP is also in power in majority of the States, unline 2014 and has a pan India foot print. Modi is personally incorruptible and there has been no scandals - major or minor. The Government and its leader is clean as a whistle.
Still our biased media and self styled experts project that he will get less seats than what he got in 2014!!
